How to knit a twig eyelet scarf

I'm using a Red Heart Boutique Midnight yarn with size 6mm needles.

Cast on in multiples of 3, here I cast on 27 stitches with a size 6mm needle. See my snap guide on how to do a long tail cast on.

Knit 2 rows (garter stitch). See my snap guide on how to knit stitch.

For row 3: knit and increase 3 stitches evenly in the row, so you'll now have 30 stitches on the needle. See next video on how to increase a stitch.

Now for the pattern: knit 1, yarn over, knit 2 together. Continue this pattern for the rest of the rows. See the next video for the pattern!

After your first row of the pattern it should look like this. It doesn't look like much now, but as you continue, you will see the pattern.

Keep it up... Starting to see the pattern?

I ended up switching the yarn to a thick wool and I picked a needle one size bigger than the recommended size.

Continue this pattern till your scarf is long enough.

To end the pattern, last 3 rows: knit 1 row while decreasing (knit 2 together) 3 stitches. The last 2 rows knit. Then bind off loosely.

The end product, I made a buttonhole on one side and a button on the other end.

So it can be an infinity scarf as well.

Tip: I think this pattern is good with thicker/chunkier yarn!
